December Training/Party Update
November 14, 2017January Training Date Change
January 10, 2018Hello everyone,
The Tyler OEM Christmas Party will be at the Middlebourne Senior Center Banquet Room Friday, December 8th at 6:00pm. As always, it will be a covered dish dinner with ham being provided. After the dinner we will have a yankee gift exchange ($10 value). (For Friday night we are expecting mostly cloudy, with a low around 20). In the past we have always posted the menu on the website tylerwv.com. As many of you have noticed the site is down. I’ve been working on it but have not yet been successful. Sorry.
Our SAR field training/exercise will be on the following Saturday morning December 9th starting at 10:00am. Dr Sarah Frances McClure will be going over “Hypothermia”. After this we will working with the GPSs and tracking system using our new Garmin Basecamp software. We will be doing some indoor and outdoor exercises using these products. Because of the expected temperature we won’t be spending too much time outdoors. (Partly sunny, with a high near 34). I’ve not heard from the K9 handlers yet but they will be welcome to work with the dogs directly after this training. Just let me know what you all want to do and I’ll send it out to the group.
We will be training at a new location! For this training we will be working out of the new Arvilla Community Center. To get to this location you will;
Turn off Rt 2 onto Arvilla Road just north of the Tyler/Pleasants County line (just south of the Momentive plant)
Follow Arvilla Road all the way to the end of the double yellow lines (4 miles) and follow the road to the right across the new concrete bridge
Continue for another mile and you will see the community building on the right.
Thank you, I welcome your calls and emails!
Merry Christmas!
Tom Cooper
