As you probably know WV has declared a state of emergency for 44 counties due to severe flooding.
I have been receiving calls from many of you offering to help. I have also been on the phone with WV Homeland Security and WV Voluntary Orginizations During Disasters (VOAD) all afternoon.
At this time WV VOAD is saying that they are NOT ready to receive outside volunteers! This should change as the water goes down. At that time they will be asking for help with search and rescue, both ground teams, K9 and cadaver searches. They will also be needing help with general welfare checks, muck-outs, food services, etc..
If you a available later to help with these duties, please let me know. I will be working with the state to help coordinate these efforts. As you know from our trainings, DO NOT SELF DEPLOY! Let me know if you would like to volunteer.
