March 1, 2016We are getting ready for the next round of weather related training but first I would like to say that the Skywarn training was well received. We had 26 folks involved on that bitter cold day. All comments were very favorable. The next training will be the first of a series being designed to teach our volunteers the science of being a “Storm Spotter”. Here volunteers will learn how to prepare a “weather briefing” for the incident commander of an event. We will be shown where to find the correct information to complete this task as well as how to spot potential dangers that would require a call to the National Weather Service to ask for backup for the event. This training is not intended to create meteorologists but to create a team of volunteers who can come to a disaster or event and keep a trained eye on the weather in order to monitor any weather dangers that pop up.
Our new mobile command trailer is being equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and software, but this will not have any value without a well trained team to operate it. This is why we are asking you to come join us for this one of a kind opportunity.

Saturday, March 12th from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM
